The technology sector is generating an ever-growing list of acronyms to keep pace with the evolution that this field requires. Among them, the *X*, representing ***Experience***, has come to appear in papers, reports, and technology blogs around the world. Below, we explain **what they represent** in the business world and **how they should be designed** to succeed in the digital experience economy.

In **such a competitive and globalized environment**, where we not only compete with companies in our market but are often compared to organizations around the world, the design of the **experience has taken on a fundamental role**.

There are many types of experiences; today we want to focus on the following four:

- Customer Experience (**CX**)
- User Experience (**UX**)
- Employee Experience (**EX**)
- Multi-experience (**MX**)

Did you know that, [According to Gartner](https://emtemp.gcom.cloud/ngw/globalassets/en/doc/documents/720630-success-in-the-digital-experience-economy-requires-connecting-mx-ux-cx-and-ex.pdf)
, **the lack of coordination among these experiences** may **hinder** a company’s **progress**? They feed off each other and, together, generate a synergy of well-being and enthusiasm that drives the organization.

Let’s get to the point of this post. What does each of these experiences represent, and why has their relevance increased in recent times?

**CX = Customer Experience**, the hot topic for the past 12 months.

Some people call it **new marketing**. As the name suggests, it focuses on Customer Experience. Traditional marketing practices—such as deriving insights from hard data and surveys of large groups of people—have been supplemented with qualitative methods to **better connect with customers and empathize with them**. Examples of this include the incorporation of [chatbots](https://blog.simpletech.uy/2021/10/13/5-beneficios-chatbots-2021/)
into the communication strategies of companies that understand that **AI offers significant benefits** when it comes to speeding up and making their interactions more efficient. This even includes exploring new communication channels such as [WhatsApp](https://blog.simpletech.uy/2021/08/31/todo-lo-que-puedes-hacer-con-whatsapp-en-tu-empresa/)
 and [Instagram](https://www.simpletech.uy/en/instagram/)
that foster closer relationships between the company and its users.

CX **not only takes digital interactions into account**, but also everything the customer "encounters" when interacting with a service, whether physical or digital (a new concept comes into play here: the **[phygital world](https://neoattack.com/neowiki/experiencia-phygital/)
.** CX is about how customers interact with a product, service, and brand.

Customer experience is a sequence of actions that builds trust between the company and its customer. It is also the process of prioritizing the customer’s needs over the company’s requirements. By focusing on experiences, **companies will avoid the mistake of "looking from the inside out"**. Will they speak to a customer who doesn’t really exist, or will they speak to [YOUR CLIENT](https://senpaiacademy.com/blog/cx-y-por-que-triunfan-las-empresas-customer-centric/)
?

**UX = User Experience**—we’ve been discussing this in the tech world for years.

UX deals with human experiences as they **interact with devices and/or objects**. Whether it’s phones, smart TVs, computers, video games, any type of digital platform, or elements of the physical world.

UX designers **care about the what, how, and why of an interaction**.

They aim to **design a journey**, from before the first point of contact until after the last interaction, anticipating users" needs, desires, preferences, frustrations, and sensations as they engage with that element.

An important part of a digital experience is **usability, efficiency, [satisfaction](https://www.simpletech.uy/en/san-cristobal-caso-de-exito/)**, and **aesthetic** components.

**EX = Employee Experience**, from collaborators to ambassadors

This refers to the **employee experience** within an organization. The scope of employee well-being has evolved significantly over the past 15 years. Today, it is a task that **does not fall solely** to the **HR**. Creating an environment where employees feel they belong and see that they are appreciated and valued is [the responsibility](https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/what-employee-experience-ex-why-matters-shah-naoaj-ahmed/)
 of the entire organization.

Employees" perceptions and feelings about the company are shaped by a multitude of interactions with customers, partners, leaders, teams, processes, policies, tools, and the work environment in general.

**MX: Multi-experience**—the ultimate experience

Here we’ve already discussed **something even more comprehensive**. It is the interaction that takes place through a variety of digital touchpoints (e.g., web, mobile apps, chatbots, AR/VR, wearables) using a **combination of interaction modalities** (for example, touch, [voice](https://blog.simpletech.uy/2021/08/31/id-rd-y-simpletech-lanzan-primera-implementacion-mundial-autenticacion-por-voz-whatsapp/)
, vision, gesture) in order to design intuitive, efficient, and frictionless customer journeys.

The pandemic forced organizations to elevate certain MX concepts from "nice-to-haves" to "necessities." **Users expect greater accessibility from companies**—an example of why mobile commerce has grown so much in the past year. Conversational interfaces, such as chatbots and smart speakers, are becoming essential. Virtual reality (**VR**), augmented reality (**AR**), and mixed reality (**MR**) are changing the way we live. **Wearable** devices and the **IoT** are leading to an ambient and constant digital experience both at home and at work—which, for many, have now become one and the same place.

**Conclusion**

Each experience influences the others. **All areas of a company** should aim to create better experiences, as they are the only ones that **can implement measures that empower them, or**, conversely, that **affect** them.

For this to happen, organizations must define what constitutes a good experience. Here, the communication and channels used to convey the message are a vital aspect.

As we’ve seen, all these fields of specialization deal with **understanding human behavior**, delve into the deepest motivations, and then appeal to those motivations when creating experiences. Let’s try to empathize with our user (whoever they may be). As we’ve already mentioned**, the customer must be at the center**. Creating meaningful interactions is the path to success in this new digital experience economy.
