Starting June 1, 2023, companies that use**WhatsApp Business** They will be charged different rates for **conversation categories**.

These 4 new categories are divided into two groups:

## 1) **Business-Initiated Conversations:**

#### **UTILITY**

Updates on ongoing purchases/transactions, post-purchase notifications, billing summary, etc.

#### **AUTHENTICATION**

Allows businesses to authenticate users with one-time passcodes (login, verification, and account recovery processes).

#### **MARKETING**

Anything that does not qualify as Utility or Authentication. Includes promotions or offers, information submissions, invitations to respond or take action.

These conversations are started using pre-approved template messages by [WhatsApp](https://www.simpletech.uy/en/whatsapp/)

## **2**) **User-initiated conversations:**

#### **SERVICE CONVERSATIONS**

All user-initiated conversations that help customers resolve queries.

Companies will also be able to continue testing WhatsApp Business with 1,000 free user-initiated conversations per month. **Conversations started by businesses will no longer be included in the free tier.**
